Walking Down Memory Lane - my DIY Wine Cork Ball
I have been looking to do a wine cork project for quite some time now. Well, I guess I haven't drunk enough wine in the past, because all of the arts and crafts ideas out there always called for more than I had. So they have been sitting in my dining room, just waiting for me.

Walking Down Memory Lane ~ Enjoy! |
Are you wondering where did I get my inspiration from?? I just happen to be browsing through the pottery barn catalog and you got it; I saw the wine cork ball (see below). I will tell you how I put mine together.

I started with a small to medium-sized Styrofoam ball and spray painted it with my gold glitter paint. Let it dry completely and then here's a really bad picture of how I decided to start attaching the corks.

You really don't realize how many corks you need until you start attaching them, so I spaced mine out as evenly as I could. I came up with an idea once I saw how much room there was in between and of course, it wasn't how I envisioned...

Spanish Moss anyone? Yes Please! I had some leftover from my terrarium project last summer, it was the perfect fit.
Here is what I learned during this project. Use toothpicks. I tried to just use the hot glue gun, but I had issues with just the hot glue gun. The toothpicks added durability with the corks staying on.
Looking for an easy arts and crafts project you can do with friends? Wine and crafts? Oh, imagine the fun!!! This was such a fun and simple project, I put some music on, tried not to glue my fingers too much and had some great memories from looking at where the corks came from. I could have named this a Walk Down Memory Lane Wine Cork Ball... :) Maybe I will...
