Vintage Side Table Refinished
![]() |
I saw this beautiful little vintage side table on Facebook Marketplace and knew I wanted it for my home. It needed quite a bit of work. It was wobbly, scratched up and in need of some serious love. I hope you like what I did or if you have any questions please send me a message. I'd love to hear from you.
Please forgive me for the bad pictures, but I always forget to take them.
This is what it looked like when I first picked it up
Here is what it looks like without all the scratches. I used my sander on all the flat surfaces it is amazing, love the color!
I had to get paint stripper for the rest of it, I had tried using stripper and then wrapping with plastic wrap overnight, but I must have not wrapped tight enough because it dried... oops
So I picked up a Citri Strip, I pasted it on and then used my gloves and steel wool.
The one thing I couldn't figure out was what was written on the bottom of the vintage side table. It looked like the word "Jennifer". I tried rubbing a pencil and paper over it, rubbing chalk, and I finally used some wood protector. never did find out, but it also wasn't deep, so maybe a ballpoint pen was used?
Here's another messy photo from my garage. Let's not look at the cat litter on the bottom right that I used in the back of my car during the wintertime ;)
Here is what it looked with just two coats of satin poly. That's all I did to the top and the color is perfect. I love it and I am so happy with how it turned out.
Let's be honest, that isn't always the case when refinishing something.
I once again sat in my driveway and worked on refinishing the vintage side table. This time I was painting the legs and talking to people as they walked by. Let's be clear, I was more than 6 feet away from everyone, but it is nice to see people and be outside in the fresh air.
I finished painting the legs in my kitchen later in the day. I used Fusion Mineral Paint, Navy.
Once again, here's the finished product.

What does it say? |
As you can see in the picture, I had lots of sandpaper and blocks to work with, plus a little helper who took my blanket that I was going to sit on...
Sand, Sand, Sand Away |
